SCE Wins Youth Energy Award

June 05, 2020

This year in STEM, the 3rd and 4th graders have done an amazing job learning about and discussing energy, particularly renewable energy, and creating posters to educate others. They built and tested different kinds of wind turbines and had to determine which kind of blade and blade pitch worked best. We discussed which areas in the school use the most energy and ways to conserve energy at school and home. And, of course, solar energy was discussed with all classes. All the students did a great job learning about renewable energy!

I decided to enter the SCE students for the Youth Energy Award at NEED.org and Sand Creek won!!!

I received this note:

CONGRATUATIONS! The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project is pleased to congratulate you and your students on an outstanding energy education project: Renewable Energy Awareness. Sand Creek Elementary was selected as Indiana School of the Year.

What can we say? We're AWESOME!
